Robinson Young has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1972 when it was founded by David Robinson and Sheila Elton. After a couple of difficult initial years the company soon started to expand and has achieved steady growth ever since to now become the largest specialist non food broker in the UK. Below are some of the milestones and notable events.

1972 Founded by DM Robinson and SF Elton
1975 Acquired 50% share in Marchant Manufacturing
1978 Acquired own warehouse in Bury St Edmunds
1982 Moved to larger warehouse on present head office site
1986 Turnover hit £10 million. Extended warehouse doubling capacity
1992 Began importing product directly from the Far East
1994 Hit £20 million turnover
1995 Reorganised business into four specialist divisions 1998 Won Batleys award for Non Food Supplier of the Year
2002 Set up new warehouse and distribution centre in Thetford
2004 Sold holding in Marchant Manufacturing
2005 Acquired Limpet Tapes. Hit £50 million turnover
2005 Won Tesco award for Healthcare own label Supplier of the Year
2006 Doubled capacity at Thetford distribution facility
2007 Won Nisa award for own label Supplier of the Year
